Welcome to the Domaine Impérial Golf Club website. We have designed it to be easy to use and update and hope you will find the information it contains useful, whether you are a Club member, a visitor or are simply looking for information about the Club and its history.

The Club was officially opened in May 1988 with a long drive hit by Severiano
Ballesteros. It was soon to gain an excellent reputation in Swiss golfing circles. Our splendid
location on banks of Lac Léman, midway between Lausanne and Geneva, the majestic
natural surroundings and top quality facilities are some of the reasons for the very complimentary reviews that the Club and its magnificent course have received.

 

However, despite the lasting imprint left by the Napoleon family, it is unlikely that the
Domaine Impérial would have created such intense interest had it not been for Pete
Dye’ s outstanding course design. On the short-short list of the world’ s best golf course
architects, this great designer knew just how to work with a terrain that lent itself splendidly to a major 18-hole course. He created the course in compliance with the many requirements and regulations imposed to meet ecological and environmental concerns.

Today the Domaine Impérial is the only course in Europe completely designed by Pete Dye and despite these restrictions, is considered to be the best in Switzerland, ranking among the most outstanding on the continent.

Maybe there would have been an 18th green between the clubhouse and the Lake
Geneva shore, where one could drop the ball across the lake in France… It is the unique
aura of Domaine Impérial Golf Club that inspired the visionaries of 1975, and gave them the courage to fight for 12 years to turn the dream of the club into reality.



No club member can ever take the course for granted, nor can our visitors, who are
continually discovering the course’s many secrets and subtle hazards. Everyone must salute
the founders who created the club, its past and current staff for their work on a daily basis,
and those who provide the other services of the club. Domaine Impérial is a total delight for
everyone. It’ s always a pleasure to welcome people to our club, even if our course isn’t as
welcoming to your score card. It makes for great memories (if sometimes bad bets!).
